Bryce Porter

Bryce Porter is a clarinetist, executive consultant, and the founder and Program Curator of the Kawartha Chamber Music Collective. A full-time resident of the Kawarthas, he brings to the Collective the same restless curiosity and commitment to excellence that have defined both his musical and professional lives.

Bryce studied clarinet performance at Dalhousie University, where he developed the technical foundation and artistic sensibility that continue to shape his playing today. He has since performed with orchestras and ensembles across Canada, including the Halifax Symphony and the Calgary Jazz Orchestra, and has championed historically informed performance practice throughout his career as a chamber musician, including performing the Mozart Clarinet Quintet on the rare basset clarinet for which it was originally written.

Outside of music, Bryce is the founder and principal consultant of PMG Consulting and holds an MBA alongside a Master's degree in Digital Data and Business Intelligence currently in progress. Over his career, he has held senior leadership roles including CEO, COO, EVP, and various VP roles across technology, hospitality, and private equity companies. His work has included overseeing portfolios of more than 100 locations across North America, directing teams across more than 60 software companies that have generated over $2 billion in revenue, and consulting for numerous hundred-million dollar acquisition projects. His practice is grounded in a foundational belief that an organization's people are its most valuable asset, and that lasting performance comes from understanding the real problem underneath the presenting one.

It is that same orientation toward root causes, unreachable standards, and the discipline required to pursue them that drew Bryce to found the Kawartha Chamber Music Collective. He serves concurrently as Board Chair of the Kawartha Youth Orchestra, of which he is also an alumnus, and remains a passionate advocate for expanding the chamber music repertoire and deepening its role in the life of the Kawartha community.
