About Us
Chamber music is something special. It is intimate, collaborative, and deeply human. Small groups of musicians listening closely to one another, making something together that none of them could make alone. It is some of the most extraordinary music ever written, and for a long time, it has been hard to find here in the Kawarthas.
The Kawartha Chamber Music Collective exists to change that.
Who We Are
We are a growing community of professional musicians, dedicated community players, and talented young musicians from the Kawartha Youth Orchestra, brought together by a shared love of chamber music and a belief that this region deserves a thriving chamber music scene.
We do not have a fixed lineup. Instead, we draw from a diverse roster of musicians and build each concert around the music itself, which means our programming is always fresh, always ambitious, and always shaped by the people involved. Some concerts feature seasoned professionals tackling demanding repertoire. Others bring in community players performing beloved classics. Often, it is both at once.
What We Do
We present concerts featuring chamber music across a wide range of styles and eras, from Mozart and Schubert to Poulenc, Bruch, and beyond. Every programme is thoughtfully built to be musically compelling and genuinely welcoming, whether you have been coming to classical concerts your whole life or you are walking into one for the first time.
We also believe deeply in the next generation of musicians. Our young players do not just participate. They perform as full members of the Collective, sharing the stage with professionals and earning real compensation for their work. It is an experience that goes far beyond what any classroom or rehearsal can offer.
